Give'em love by rgehan
Hi,
This was our first time doing a Ludum Dare. It was quite fun, even if we almost gave up at some point (Nope, it's not related to our lack of art skills *hmpf* Sethyx *hmpf*).
____________
Description:
Concerning the game, it's a beat'em'all. It's quite simple. You have a weapon (a nyan cat throwing rainbows with his butt) and your goal is to kill every suit man on the map. It's very basic, and there's probably much more to do to make it fit the theme.
_________
Controls:
Q/D: Left-Right
E: Swap weapons
Space: Shoot
_________
Graphics:
We made the art for the background, but there are some textures we grabbed on the Internet.
As it was pointed out by someone, it's hard to determine which textures we "borrowed" (thanks on the Internet, here is a list:
- The player animation
- The pikachu
- The nyancat (it was modified but still)
- The fire texture for the barrels
The rest of the graphics are entirely ours.

Software/Tech used:
- Java + LWJGL + Slick2D
- Eclipse
- Adobe Photoshop CS6
- as3sfxr
- Audacity
Enjoy, and feel free to leave a feedback,
Rgehan, Sethyx & Oshino.

The game looks good, but it's hard to assertain how much of the graphics were "borrowed".
@McBurrobit: I added more precision to the description concerning the graphics. They are not that much "borrowed" as you said.
I'm not sure that the pikzooka was better than the nyan cat.
- graphics: the sprites as well as the parallax layers. gave me an old school double dragon vibe
- audio:
how it can be even better imho:
- game play gets pretty repetitive soon.maybe more enemy types. and enemies that come from both directions
congrats on finishing.
I really liked this one!
Good solid entry for a first Ludum Dare.
@Mixer: Thank you for your kind words. We're planning to improve the game. Add new ennemies, new levels, new ambiances, etc... Come back soon :)
It seems that it falls into an infinite loop or something. I just start it and then my wait cursos keeps rolling forever. Then I can't delete the exe, and can't kill the process, because there isn't any.
Maybe it's due to the possible virus warnings that Horsed have reported before?
I finished the map, maybe an end or something like that would be great.
I think you've done more work than we can see, because there was an energy bar and, it didn't affect the game ?
There's an issue with the Pikagun, where you playing on Mac ?
Thank you all :)
