Unconventional Weapon by icedvariables

[raw]
made by icedvariables for LD32 (COMPO)
You play Clive, a computer programmer employed by a large software company.

Unfortunately, the company doesn't value the security of its systems too highly. A group of hackers has broken into the system and trapped 'you' in a weird and dangerous, virtual version of your workplace - this is the 'Matrix'.

To escape you must type a 4 digit code into a key pad at the other end of the building. This will shut the power off and disable the computer powering the matrix. Please do NOT forget the red, four digit number shown on your (in-game) computer screen at the beginning.

'Pickup weapons' (weights) are indicated by a spinning arrow above them. Use these to bash the nasty guardians of the Matrix to death.

Be careful though, touching the electric barriers will result in your instant death! Make sure you turn the barriers off by pulling the wall levers nearby.

Have fun and good luck!

The game has a little different lighting than what is in that screenshot. Unfortunately, I had issues with the mouse not being locked to the screen, which made it kinda unplayable (both web and windows). In the webGL player, the screen size was too small to see the hud properly. I had to go fullscreen to see everything. I found the hand-drawn art to be unique.

The game is fun to play and the art-style is very interesting and uniqe. I just had a problem where the mouse didn't lock to the game, I don't know if you didn't implements mouse locking or if it's a bug but I think that you should try to fix it before the compo ends.

Same problem with the mouse, I clicked on wrong things and died on the web version. I like the hazy graphics!

Nice amount of work for 48 hours, you have all the basics of a puzzle/action game. The 2 biggest issues I found are:
- I didn't find how the enter the digit code
- There's no way (at least it seems) to kill a monster without a health hit

The game lacks polish to make this a really entertaining experience, but it's a nice effort and the pencil-made textures are a good idea!

The controls were a bit weird, the view seemed to rotate in a "teleporting" fashion when I moved the mouse too fast. The GUI wasn't fully visible. Good things; the footstep sound was pretty good, the artstyle was interesting and the concept was good. Needs polish, otherwise a neat game.

The idea and the art style are nice, found the enemies a bit too mean to me. They hurt my feelings.

Very good beginning. Game has nice mood, kind of horror. I like it.
