Quiet Riot by GeorgeBroussard

[raw]
made by GeorgeBroussard for LD32 (COMPO)
It's time to overthrow the King! You plan to cause a riot by handing out gold to the starving villagers while the King talks. Beware the King's guards. They cannot be avoided once you have their attention.

Controls: Use arrow keys to stand over villagers and give them gold (takes 1 sec). Avoid guards. If they get too close it's game over. The villagers faces change to happy when they have accepted your gold. Once they all have gold, they will riot and kill the King.

Nicely done. Love the visuals, and the gameplay is pretty challenging. More complex than it seems at first. I also love all the stuff the king is saying. Plague is NOT a problem!

Amazing. The presentation is top, graphics and sound, but even better is the gameplay idea. It has the exact right mix of moving around, strategy and surprise.

Nice concept, could've used a bit more depth to make it more interesting. Still, it's quite lovely for what it is.

Superb visuals, great feedback all around. A bit simple maybe but worth it for that polish =).

Great interpretation of the theme imho.

Wow, quite difficult to actually win, but I did finally manage to do it.

Absolutely love the old monitor-screen effect. Amazing how an added effect like that can really add to the overall feel of polish and evoke a specific feeling.

Top notch!

Awesome work dude! The arcade screen presentation is neato, would love to see how you achieved that. :) Also the perfect amount of gameplay for LD I think - not too short, but also not so long that people with short attention spans tune out. Very impressed.

I love the old-school TV effect. Good job on making the guards' proximity obvious. Would have been neat if there were more levels with different configurations and patrol routes for the guards.

Quite a basic game but pretty fun, and very polished and well executed for what it is. Cool take on the theme as well. I haven't managed to win yet, but I'll give it another go.

Loved the retro look and sprites, it was also just the right amount of challenge for me. It was nice idea too, kind of a different approach to overthrowing a king. Great entry!

Absolutely brilliant! Great visuals, the old monitor effect makes the game feel more retro. I really wanted to break out my old Atari joystick and use it to control my player. I really enjoyed playing the game and look forward to learning from your source code.

Nice take on the theme, and the king's quotes add a lot of humour. Do the guards get more aggressive as the villagers become happy? If not, might be interesting to try as a difficulty ramp.

Great stuff. Really nicely worked with the theme. Balanced just right with getting everyone. Maybe you could add a time limit or just a counter to encourage some replay.

Fantastic mood. Nice is laso this old tv effect. The game itself might be a bit longer.

The game itself is fun in its own right, but what really makes it for me is the tv effect. It has some nice touches (loved the dot-crawl around the title) and adds a ton of atmosphere to the game.

It's a fun little game. The "old tv" effect is pretty cool but it got a bit annoying after a while.

Great little game, I love the visuals and the main stealth mechanic is pretty fun. Could make an interesting multiplayer game where some players are guards and others are villagers.

This, sir, is quite the enjoyable little game. I love the concept of indirect combat. I still am unable to figure out how you accomplished the old monitor effect.

Cool game! Dodging the guards is pretty challenging. I like what you did with the visuals, the retro feel is cool. I feel like maybe some kind of baiting/distraction mechanic might have made it a little deeper!

Ah ah excellent take on the theme! Probably one of your most polished entry :) The screen distortion works very well, and you did really great with the art: good job!
The gameplay would benefit from extra things like having ways to distract the guards, disguise yourself or having solid obstacles+view cones (like in a traditional stealth game).

Nice entry! Adorable graphics and the tube tv effect! :) Nice work with sound and controls too!

The use of theme is pretty well done and the game is quite challenging, despite its simplicity! :3

Really Good! To understand and feel the game, you must play! No, you MUST play this game because it's GOOD! :D
