CAVEMAN by Swampie

CAVEMAN

---

A heavy story driven story about a man and his cave.

---

So this is my first game EVER. I've made little prototypes before but this is the first game I completed with a main menu, sound, ect.

Since it's my first it's pretty messy, but I'm still pretty happy with how it turned out. Onward and upwards from here! (Hopefully)

I really like this, I would've liked it to change the weapons instead of just looking like a rock the whole time. Thank you :D

Cool game, the only problem I found was losing visibility at the bottom of the screen, but other than that it was super fun! Great job! :D

Super good for your first game! I liked the level variety, the snow effect was a nice addition. It seems like you're going to be making great games when you're more experienced and I'm looking forward to it! My first game (which was also this LD!) didn't turn out close to as good as this, well done!

Fun little game. I like how the game progressed. I had some minor bugs where the elks scaled the wall and dissapeared.
Congratulations on the game!

I love the feel of the game! Other than what others have said, I did notice that the audio got cut short one of the times that I shot the gun. I think the problem was that I was shooting uphill and the bullet got destroyed before the sound could be finished playing. You could fix this by attaching the sound to the gun and having it play every time you shoot instead of attaching the sound to the bullet. Again, love how the game plays and congrats on an awesome first game!

Wow! I don't know why, but I really like this game.
The sounds are great. :D
I did notice that the animals kept climbing walls and trees, which I thought was funny. :P

I really like the old school 2d sprites in a 3d world. Also the sound is impressive.

I like the feel of this game, and the low-fi graphics make it approachable. I found it very difficult to play on a laptop, so I didn't get far, but I enjoyed the time I spent with it.

the fire sounds is effectively nice, looks like 2.5D in the first

fun. It will be great If game has progress bar. So, I will know how much I need to kill. :)

Cool game! Grats on finishing your first one - of all the "first" games I've seen, this one is definitely near the top. The hunting was challenging but not too much, and the 2D on 3D environment was done well.

Some tips: it would be good to give the player more feedback that shooting an animal enough times kills it. For awhile I thought they were running away when I killed them and I almost quit. Also, the speed at which the animal runs away varies a little too much - it might be a matter of a high cap on the random speed or the perspective affecting the perceived distance.

Cool. I love this 2D/3D hybrid (like Proteus except third person).

That said, I'm really terrible at getting the rabbits... despite the fact that my caveman has a mean pitching arm.

Hi, nice game and congratulations ! Simple mechanics that still offered a decent amount of challenge. We're realizing a video with several games of the Ludum Dare #36. We made the same thing at the previous jam.

Can you add your game on indiexpo.net ? (it's free)
So we can include also your game in the video ;)
p.s. write #LDJAM in the game's description.

Great, i could play for hours hunting these birds haha

Just add some features like eating and drinking, even plant trees, that would be awesome! :D

I had a laugh when the deer climbed the wall. And the sense of progression was nice.

If this is really your first complete game, congratulations! You should be proud. Like you say, on-wards and upwards :)
