HYPER DELUX BINGO QUEST STORY by 23
A strategic Bingo game you can play through in about ~10m. Please read the rules below so you know how damage works. The action key is Z or N.
I have also written up rules for playing against another person with a deck of normal cards, pencil, and paper, as well as a little on strategy:

The balance of the world has been disrupted. All is in danger, and chaos looms. It's then that one brave soul comes forth... that is you! And now, using the power of BINGO, you must save the world.
Because moving backgrounds may cause motion sickness or other problems I have provided a non-blinky version, though if you have a particular sensitivity it may be best to give it a pass.
Made using pico-8 from Lexaloffle.
PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS:
- Play BINGO by taking turns with the CPU playing cards from your hand
- You both start with 15hp, and lose at 0 or less
- You have a BINGO BOARD (3x3) and a HAND of 3 cards beneath it
- Play a card from your hand to light up the square on your board or the CPU's
- Cards not on either board go in the DEAD PILE
- if the DEAD PILE fills up (5 cards), whoever played the last card takes 5 damage and a new round starts
- if someone gets a BINGO, they do 5 damage per BINGO plus 1 per card in the DEAD PILE
There are four stages, no background music and there's probably a few bugs, but basic play should work fine. Enjoy!
NOTES:
If the web player doesn't pop up right away, give it a second. Should work fine in FF/Chrome. If it doesn't work in those or other modern browsers please tell me.
Pico-8 is a Fantasy Console by Lexaloffle. It has a built-in editing environment and uses Lua for program code, less standard libraries. Information on Pico-8 is here:

EDIT 2015-04-21T15:54:23
I found the bugs in the original version and fixed them:
- pushing x caused an error (leftover debugging command)
- sometimes not-short games had errors (off-by-one error exhausted deck early)
- restarting did not work (tried to render stage -1, failed)
I think this is within the bounds of permitted after-time fixes so I've updated the embed URL, but just in case I'm keeping the links to the originals around.

Any reason why it had to be z instead of space or something? I couldn't see the bottom bit with the instructions so spend ages trying to figure out how to press select.
@Foofanoo42: Thanks! This is a bingo variant I made up for the compo. I'd been frustrated by bingo before since it's more of a slow lottery than a game and had thought up some variants, though none that worked with two players.
@Chris Delta: Thanks for playing! Was that error in the bugfixed version? I thought I'd fixed everything :/ If it wasn't the bugfixed version, what happened was it tried to restart and blew up, which is one of the things I fixed :P
Pretty cool game with nice graphics and an interesting approach of the theme. Nice entry :D
Nice graphics and sfx, maybe the CPU Chose sfx have a bit to much bass and made my desk tremble a bit.
One gripe though. Whenever I restart the game (refresh the page) the numbers are all the same. The random generator seed number doesn't seem to change at all.
I have no idea if changing that is out of your hands.
Visuals are neat for a bingo game i guess :D !
Pico8 stuff seems interesting btw...
