No One Expects Abe Lincoln by breadstix

[raw]
made by breadstix for LD32 (COMPO)
I learned a LOT with this entry and I feel it is much better than my first LD entry. It's still lacking in a lot of areas and I was not able to get to a few features that would have made the game a lot more interesting but that's how it goes.

-HOW TO PLAY

Destroy the enemy base before your base is destroyed... and don't get killed in the process!

Basic W,A,S,D movement controls. Click or Enter to attack.

-Working on a web build but having some difficulty right now.

-Current known issues
*The audio isn't working in either download version or web version.
*Will sometimes move backwards when you attack.
*A random cannon has appeared out of no where in certain downloaded versions
*Next time I should test the different versions :(

WASD does not appear to do anything in the web version.

I didn't really get the premise. What is the unconventional special weapon? If it's Abe, I couldn't use him :( every time I play a round, I don't seem to have enough money to afford him, even after killing everyone/the enemy base.

WASD worked fine for me. I was never able to spawn Abe though. Enemies stopped spawning and their base blew up before I had enough money.

Great title, haha. also worked fine for me mostly but with no music, and when I attacked I moved to the left, idk why.

I couldn't use WASD in web version as well,
also I don't think swords are very unconventional.

I couldn't get WASD to work on the web version? It actually wasn't responding to any keyboard commands at all. I made it further than I felt I had any right to with the aid of my trusty mouse.

A little unpolished, but congratulations on finishing Ludum Dare! Improvement will come with practice!

It was fun, but I ran into some bugs.
Enemies stopped spawning. Some of my dudes would pile up on the enemy base and block from attacking it.
Also, By the time I was able to spawn abe, I had won. Possibly because no enemy units were spawning.

Overall I liked the idea. There were a few bugs holding me back from getting the full experience though. The title made me smile and I bumped you up a point on humor just for that. Be aware that you can fix bugs and do porting after you have submitted as long as it is just fixing something that doesn't work and not outright adding new features.

If the game was longer and harder, this could be pretty fun. I'm curious to see what Abe is like, but I too could never get enough money without winning to find out.

@Catwheel - Thanks for the info about porting and bugs. I was afraid that this might cause some problems and didn't want to invalidate my submission, even in it's buggy form. I appreciate your feedback :)
