We were inspired by playing Nidhogg and Towerfall recently at a LAN Party. We had a LOT of fun, and wanted to create a similar experience.\r<br\/>\r<br\/>Once you get the controls, this is a lot of fun to play. There are a fair few bugs, but we'll try to get those fixed up and it'll be a lot more solid. We definitely need more player feedback, and make lots of things clearer. We got to crunch time and didn't even have a game manager together, so I threw that together quickly and Lew made us some overlay graphics. We could do a lot better with a bit more time :)\r<br\/>\r<br\/>We might make it networkable, or maybe add some second player AI so you can play it alone... but we didn't have time for that during the jam! We have absolutely TONS more ideas for it - such as procedural level generation, more enemies, more ways to attack, better sound etc.\r<br\/>\r<br\/>Unfortunately, I am insanely busy at the moment (had to take time off work for Ludum Dare!), so I'm not going to get to it immediately, but I've enjoyed playing it so much that I think we might do a little more work on it and make it a proper release :)\r<br\/>\r<br\/>Thank you all so much for your feedback :D"},{"author_name":"TeamCalcium","author_uid":"53017","time":"Apr 21, 2015 @ 3:10pm","epoch":1429628700,"text":"I really like those small skeletons!\r<br\/>The music is good as well."},{"author_name":"Awpteamoose","author_uid":"21326","time":"Apr 21, 2015 @ 3:28pm","epoch":1429629780,"text":"Far too confusing, but it sure looks and sounds nice."},{"author_name":"Hyoga-3D","author_uid":"23927","time":"Apr 21, 2015 @ 3:51pm","epoch":1429631160,"text":"I did not understand how could I kill the enemies, but nice game, cool art and sound."},{"author_name":"kyyrma","author_uid":"8424","time":"Apr 21, 2015 @ 5:02pm","epoch":1429635420,"text":"The graphics, controls and basic mechanics are all absolutely top notch... but! Stand in the light when it appears and if you stay in it long enough you win!\r\n\r\nYou are in limbo, waiting to be judged, and the devil has decided he'd rather like to see you and your counterpart duke it out for his amusement. Well, you, your counterpart and infinite skeletons. Luckily, being the resourceful people you are, you've worked out that you can dish out some damage with body parts left just lying around (how convenient!) the arena.\r\n\r\n\r\nControlling Your Character:\r\n* [Movement] + [Dash] + [Action] (context sensitive)\r\n* Quick press [Dash] to do a small dash, hold [Dash] to charge. Release to do a longer dash\r\n* Quick press [Action] when near a body part or spear to pick it up\r\n* When carrying an item, hold [Action] to charge. Release to throw the item at the other player or the skeletons.\r\n* When you meet a player, hammer [Action] to grapple. The winner walks away, while the loser is dazed and vulnerable\r\n\r\nP1 Controls:\r\n[Movement] WASD\r\n[Action] SPACE\r\n[Dash] L-SHIFT\r\n\r\nP2 Controls:\r\n[Movement] ARROWS\r\n[Action] NUMPAD 0\r\n[Dash] RCTRL\r\n\r\nAlternatively, plug in two XBox controllers, and use the D-PAD or LEFT stick for [Movement], A for [Action] and B for [Dash]\r\n\r\nFeatures:\r\n* Dead players and skeletons will leave behind body parts for you to pick up when they die. Use these body parts to destroy enemies and the other player\r\n* There's one spear at the top of the map that players can use for the initial attack\r\n* Players must stay inside the shining light for as long as they can - but this isn't easy! The other player and the skeletons are out to get you!\r\n* The light's colour and brightness will fade in and out depending on who's winning. The winner will be the player that stands in the light the longest - but watch out - it's easy to be swarmed by the enemy, allowing your opponent to gain the advantage!\r\n\r\nBugs:\r\n* Many! We will fix things up in the coming weeks :) We have many more ideas for the game too, to make it more fun and chaotic.\r\n\r\n\r\nCreated for the 32nd Ludum Dare game jam by Resonance Arcade: Chris '@NineteenNinjas' Sebok and Lewis '@lewster32' Lane with music by Chris Osborne. www.resonancearcade.com \/ @ResonanceArcade.\r\n\r\nOne or two sounds are from freesound.org [Creative Commons 0 Attribution License] (weapon pickup, skeleton sounds), but only because we we're running out of time! Everything else was made during the jam - code, voice overs, graphics, story, game design and everything in between!","title":"CharnHell"}
