CannonFodder by defacid

[raw]
made by defacid for LD32 (COMPO)
You turn into a cannon and shoot yourself out of yourself.

WASD to move
Mouse to aim
Hold LMB to turn into a cannon
Release LMB after charging to fire (There's only one firespeed)

I'll update this with more recent screenshots and a web version, but I'm exhausted from running my university's first every hackathon, that coincided with LD32.

It was pretty fun once I figured out how the lives worked. I like the idea of being a magic cannon-person.

It's fun shooting around but the human to cannon animation doesn't make sense. Why not go for something more visually connecting like an armadillo that rolls up and charges? Same mechanic, different theme.

Otherwise fun stuff!

Loved shooting myself as a bullet. This would be cool to see as a multiplayer game. Since all the enemies have a number above their heads, the player's health could go there. I thought the time was = to the health, so that would help clarify.

I wish it didn't take so long to fire.

Thanks everybody!

I picked myself turning into a cannon because I thought it was stupid and funny. Armadillos make too much sense and don't make me laugh nearly as much.

The number next to the health bar is actually the FPS, I didn't have time to remove it, but I can do so on the Web version.

And it takes the player just as long to charge a shot as it does enemies - they just aim faster than most people. You can run fast enough to dodge their attacks, but you have to plan when you're going to transform and fire haha

I'll keep going through and trying to play every game by every person who comments.

The movement feels really good, and the charging time before you fire is really tense, especially since the AI is brutally good.

To be honest, it takes too long to fire yourself to other enemies, making the game unfairly difficult. I recognize time was a huge issue here: you didn't have the 48-hours available at the time. Still, a lot of balancing could go a long way to this game.

Taro don't be a hater! :P

I feel like it's balanced and challenging enough to be fun, but I appreciate your input. Next LD I'm planning to have the whole time available for working haha

I'll check your game and Mykaelos' out later today. Everybody else should have gotten my rating and comments. :D

Ha! Interesting concept. Could use a little ramp up on difficulty. Right now it starts pretty hard. I'm not sure I killed a single enemy. ahahaha

Cool game! I wish there was some kind of point system for killing ememies. I too like the idea of being a cannon-person :)
