DAVE by danec020

[raw]
made by danec020 for LD32 (JAM)
This game was made by two developers in a period of 48hrs. We chose the unconventional weapon idea of "failure". This led to us developing a game where your character experiences death to further achieve his goals. Because of this we built a strange white laboratory style environment and had naked clones of one another for the test subjects.

The game focuses on a simple puzzle mechanic. When pressing a button, any buttons in its row/column will be altered to a new color. If you press a button of the same color as the mysterious "glowing tile", something bad will happen to Dave. Use these unfortunate outcomes to your advantage and make it to the mysterious tile!

But you can never leave, Dave.

I like logical games and this is a good one. I had a great time killing myself.

Great foundation for a puzzle game. Once you get the basic idea in this version it becomes trivial but if you add more variety, it has potential. Poor Dave. You can never trust a button on the floor. I'm not sure it ever felt safe.

Congratulations for you entry, it is a great game. The visual is so cool.

My suggestions (if your going to continue developing this game): path finding! it is very unnecessary to click only in the same row/col the character is; more consist buttons, I still don't get when the button is gonna work or not; a better camera view or the capacity to change it, because sometimes is pretty hard to click in some rooms.

You probably know all that, but still, it is a great puzzle and would be cool if did a full version of it.

Hi I'm pretty agree with renatopp, pathfinding would be awesome. I also have the sensation that it takes time to detect my mouse position but it maybe a browser problem. Anyway you've done a great puzzle game with original mechanic, humorous answer to the theme and advanced realization. Great submission !

Solid puzzle concept and solid construction. I'm sure if you'd had more time to add additional levels, it could have a lot of really interesting, challenging iterations. Nicely done.
