The Banana Standoff by SloZigec

Hello!

Another fun Ludum Dare has come to an end. I again decided to make a game in JAVA. I used the most basic Graphics library Java provides. Other than that, I user Audacity to produce sounds, Eclipse for programming and Paint.NET for creating the few sprites I use.

The Monkey Standoff is a turn based 2 Player game where both players try to eliminate each other with bananas. 1 hit kills.

Standing on top of randomly generated buildings players must use both buildings and wind to their advantage. Players input the angle and the speed of the throw. (ca. 0-90 degress, 0-150 banana speed would be recommended (enter to confirm the values)).

I am looking forward to your feedback!

Have fun playing!

ps. long time programmers and/or games might recognize the game concept from and old DOS game.

Decent little multiplayer game. It probably would have been better with out control for aiming, but it gets the job done. Nice work.

Hi. Cool game. Is this a remake of the an IBM-Game of the 80s or early 90s? Very cool... played it on my 286 with 8mhz ^^ ... hey found it... it was made with qbasic :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDc3ZEKl-Wc

It's gorilla.bas! Whoa, bonus points for reminding me a classic. But I can't vote much for innovation :D

I even tried the old bug of weird numbers, that caused bananas to ignore some collisions, hahaha. Just put lots of numbers and it will start to overflow in a similar way. Nice work!

fun remake.
You could have change something compared to the original (multi online, or not turn-based with one player with the keypad, etc...)

Fun little mini game. Nice graphics! Sort of hard to hit each other though. But other than that, good job!

You have reminded me of my childhood. That was the game that caused me to play around with programming. I guess I wouldn't participate in LD if it weren't for that game. :)

Well done implementing it.
I was just unsure if the bananas were discarded if another player throws before your falls.

No, bananas will only disappear on landing... or falling out of the screen.
