Fishbowl by Mase

[raw]
made by Mase for LD33 (JAM)
Get three fishbowls and maybe something will happen!

Controls:
Left & Right Arrows.
Hold Down to Cry.
X to Lick
C to Jump

Special Technique:
Ignite your tears by licking them.
Some blocks can be burned.

Tip:
Restore your health by holding "down" on glowing blood. It is dropped by the harmless innocents and television sets.

Hint:
If you perish, use the trampoline in your cave to quickly retry the level.

Also:
The flying enemies are weak against fire.

I am the Monster.

Great work and dig the tears/flames mechanics. I wanted to burn down the world, I did.

I don't know what possessed you to make this game, but I'm glad you did - it's definitely an experience!

It took me a little while to get the hang of the controls and the mechanics, but it was fun and interesting to play once I did. I adore the art style, as well! The map screen in particular was great to look at.

This was a disturbing acid trip in the shape of a game.
Great entry

I really like dithered graphics, best looking game in this jam I've seen so far. But gameplay is a bit too trippy and clunky...

I'm not sure how to feel about this - I liked the mechanics and I thought that the trippy art style was very interesting, but at the same time I thought most of the game was pretty tedious. The droning, dissonant soundtrack might have worked well in small bursts, but the second level was far too long to have the tortured Bikini Bottom thing going on throughout.

I guess that I feel strongly about this means you've succeeded, in a way? Maybe I just didn't really get it.

The atmosphere was very unique and I like the art a lot!

This one is very unique! I love the guitar-based sound effects, it's very trippy like an early-90s Nick cartoon.

That was so artsy. Probably the best unique art style I've seen around here. Amazing art and the gameplay was ok. The sound track was pretty flat, though. Not quite vibrant enough for the art. Grungy != toneless.

Graphics in this are great, liked the overall trippy design and colour choices. Just wish the player movement was a bit smoother. The tear/lick was an interesting idea also.

Definitely one of the strangest entries I've played. I love the surrealist art style you've used for the game.

Interesting idea, controls ok. It's very hard to jump from a platform that's going down, I always fell in the water.

What a strange graphics style and palette, reminded me of old CGA/EGA games :-O Nice work!
