Survivor by JPatrick

Survivor is an island survival game. You are placed on a randomly generated island inhabited by pigs, cows and angry wolves that spawn and attack at night.

You require food to survive as your hunger will decrease over time. Enter the underworld via the portals to access iron and coal to upgrade tools and cook food.

Shelters can be created and placed to allow you to sleep through the night, store items and cook food.

Definitely ran out of time on this one so there's probably some bugs and I didn't get all the features in I wanted to so there isn't really an "end game". A score is generated as you play, increased by killing wolves and surviving each day.

Instructions:
WASD to move.
LMB to perform actions.

Scroll Wheel/Mouse click to select active inventory item.

Right click with a food item active to eat the item.

Left click with a shelter in hand to place it.

Left click while facing a shelter to enter it.

Left click while facing a tile to attack it.

Left click to attack all mobs in a radius around you.

Right click on an item slot to drop it.

COOKING
Enter an advanced tent to access the cooking menu.
Right click on an item slot to store it in the tent.
Click on the item slot in the tent to add it to the furnace.
Left click on items in the furnace to remove them.
Iron Ore, Raw Pork and Raw Beef can be cooked. All require coal in the furnace to do this.

What a cool game! It reminds me a bit of Notch's 'Minicraft' in an earlier LD. I love to punch trees and animals for resources ^_^

The levels appear to be randomly / procedurally generated, which is very cool - I think I didn't find any wood the first two tries, but then again, I kept punching pigs, so I didn't really walk far... Exploring the map is fun either way :)

I found a small error in your item menu - in the weapons tab, the "iron sword" is labelled "iron pick" in the menu :)

The easy controls are positive for me, what I'd improve would be adding some sort of "feedback" if you are actually hitting a tile / entity.. Even making it blink would be sufficient. I sometimes seemed not to be able to fell a tree while standing really close (maybe not close enough, though)

Also, knowing how mining/combat actually works would be great - do I just stand on a tile, and I hit all the tiles in a 3x3 radius upon clicking? (It seems like I killed a pig while felling a tree at the same time)

Good to see another slick2D game :) It does run a bit slowly but that is to be expected from something with so much going on, great game

Very cool game! I died a few times due to hunger because I didn't notice I was starving but I'm definitely impressed, especially since this is basically my entry with 50 times the effort put into it haha

Hi guys :) Thanks for the feedback

Vaiaphraim: Combat damage is dealt in a radius around you while mining is only directed to the tile you are "facing", which is the less direction you pressed(WASD). Unfortunately I didn't have time to add different player sprites for each direction so it's not obvious which way you are facing.
