The Letterpress Imp by StaNov

[raw]
made by StaNov for LD33 (COMPO)
TLDR: Controls - arrows and spacebar

Every day, we can see typos and other little mistakes in newspapers and books. Who is responsible for them? And what would happen, if this guy has much more power and can make a really big information mess? Well, you can check that out in my game!

You are the Letterpress Imp and your quest is to do the most damage you can and get back home. You can achieve it by jumping over newspapers' paragraphs and swapping pieces of headlines. Imp is controlled by arrows and spacebar, as TLDR says. From windows application you have to quit by Alt+F4, sorry.

Charming game! Even though it’s a fairly straightforward platformer, jumping on paragraphs to move words around is a clever concept that I haven’t seen before. Good storytelling.

Love the concept of both game design and folklore behind those "mysterious" typos! Wish he didn't skid around so much :}

Lovely cutscenes and story, your voice is very charming

The complete lack of challenge is a let down though.

In the end, a fun experience, it was the first game that made me laugh here at LD.

P.S.: You really should consider being an animator or an voice actor, it would be interesting to see your scene direction and/or voice with the collaboration of some Ludumdarians who made interesting gameplay mechanics but completely lacked of charisma and overall game feel.

really like the intro. Really funny and the background really plays well into the game itself. Graphics leave a little to be desired.

Graphics have a cool "children's storybook" quality to them. Gameplay is a little flat, but this is a good storytelling game with interesting humor.

Honestly, I love everything about this. The actual platforming could use some tightening/polish, but the concept is great and the game is hilarious. Great job!

Haha, I realy like this one, especially the idea of using a story. The playing part is a bit to easy, but the story part is kept me going trough the whole game.

Wonderfully charming game! Great storytelling, the best for me so far. Loved the audio :) Graphics were simple but functional.
The idea of swapping words as a mechanic was very original but under-used as gameplay. Would love to see this idea expanded with more challenge.
Great work!

I loved the idea, the flow and the music. really fun to play! :D

I would have liked it if the mechanism for the word swapping was more engaging, where you actually had to read and understand the sentence and not just trying to control the imp.

Fantastic game. Love the music and narration. Very innovative and creative use of theme. Obviously, no challenge, but this game is not about challenge - it's about story. Very nice!
P.S. Thanks for playing my game and yes, I really did make the music for the game.
